The self-acting differential pressure controllers and flow controller/limiters are primarily for use in district heating systems. The controllers close on rising differential pressure or when set max. flow is exceeded.
 
Differential pressure controller & Flow limiter
Function of the controller: the high up-stream pressure is led to the lower part (high pressure connection) of the diaphragm inside the controller. Through a channel in the controller, the medium pressure is led from the valve to the upper side (low pressure connection) of the diaphragm. The spring power now affects the upper part of the diaphragm, thus determining the effective differential pressure. The flow limitation is achieved by adjusting the throttle in the valve, which makes a resistance in the control loop of the pressure controller.

Function of the controller: the controller is equipped with one control diaphragm for flow control (closes the valve body) and a control diaphragm for differential pressure control second to the valve body.
 
Return mounting version: the up-steam pressure is led to the high pressure side of the differential pressure diaphragm and the low pressure is connected from the inled of the valve body.
For the flow control diaphragm the high pressure is given via the connection to the inled of the valve body and the low pressure is led via a channel in the controller. A spring in the flow control diaphraghm giving the working pressure allows a precise setting of the flow on the throttle.
 
Flow mounting version: the upstream pressure is led via an external connection to the high pressure side of the flow control diaphragm and the low pressure of the flow controller is led via a channel in the controller to the low pressure side. A spring force determines the working pressure for the throttle enabling precise flow adjustment.
 
The valve outlet pressure is connected to the high pressure connection of the differential pressure diaphragm and via an external connection to the down-stream pressure this is connected to the low pressure side og the differential pressure diaphragm
