Danfoss Flat Stations help Apartment Building in Moscow Save Energy

27 residential flat stations have been installed in the apartment building located on ул. Starovolynskaya 12 in the Ochakovo-Matveevsky District of the Western Administrative Division of Moscow.

The building is a nine-story solid brick building constructed in 2006. The building accommodates blind apartments; ceiling height is 3.3 m; interior partitions are marked out on the floor. It is equipped with a double-pipe heating system connected to a substation.

Today heating systems with flat stations are most frequently designed and developed for high-rise buildings within the large-scale housing construction.

The tenants obtain considerable advantages if using a heating system with flat stations compared to the central heated buildings:
  • heat costing per each apartment and reduction of heat expenditures by 10–15% per heating season
  • comfortable indoor climate in the apartment due to the individual temperature control of each apartment

The basement accommodates a district heating substation for automatic control of the domestic hot water supply system, heating system and ventilation system. This ensures ideal operation of the entire heating system both in the entire building and in every apartment.

Residential flat stations allows for individual floor heaters in every apartment and serve as inlet and distribution assemblies of the heating and ventilation systems plus enabling installation of individual heat meters.

Realized Benefits

The system considered meets the high sanitary and health standards in heated apartments and ensures heat saving due to the use of individual residential meters. It is possible to start the heating system any time at the client’s request and there’s no need to wait for the start-up of the heat supply system in other apartments or in the whole apartment building. The system capacity and the length of horizontally-mounted pipelines are practically similar, the heat supply system assembly is standardized while manufacturing pipe shells reduce manufacturing and mounting expenditures.

Such a heat supply system can be repaired and redesigned if design changes of the building is required. The system requires less piping for construction and allows for using steel, copper, brass and PVC pipes certified for construction while mounting.

The use of the flat stations reduces heat consumption by 10–20 %.
