Guideline for the Quality of Water to be used in Copper Brazed Plate Heat Exchangers

Danfoss District Heating has prepared a guideline for the water quality of tap water and district heating water used in heat exchangers of stainless steel (EN No. 1.4404 ~ AISI 316L) brazed with pure copper.
The water which flows in these plate heat exchangers varies a lot from application to application and corrosion can be a problem in some situations. Preparation of a water specification could limit the risk of water induced corrosion. |

In this guideline you will find a summary of the parameters and their recommended quality limits which should be followed to limit corrosion. The limits are only valid for plate heat exchangers of stainless steel (EN No. 1.4404 ~ AISI 316L) brazed with pure copper.
It is important to point out that the water specification is not a guarantee against corrosion, but it must be considered as a tool to avoid the most critical water applications.
